Join us for a live, hands-on Zoom class centered on two warming, food-based herbal preparations: Fire Cider and Fire Honey.
We will look at the history and traditions surrounding Fire Cider and Fire Honey. You will become familiar with the fresh herbs, roots, spices, vinegar, and honey used in these preparations, while considering how each ingredient contributes to flavor, aroma, warmth, and overall character.
Together we will prepare a jar of Fire Cider using fresh, pungent ingredients, followed by a spiced Fire Honey made with warming dried spices. Discussion will also include the difference between fresh and dried herbs, vinegar, and honey as preparation mediums, and tradition herbal use versus what modern research can tell us.
By the end of class, you will have made a jar of Fire Cider beginning its infusion and a finished jar of Fire Honey to use at home.
Participants provide their own ingredients and basic kitchen supplies. A complete supply list is available before registration.
No previous herbal experience is needed. This class is educational in nature and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.
